Volvo V90 2017 is an important milestone in the history of Volvo’s wagons. 2016 is when Volvo decided to make a comeback after almost two decades, and what a comeback it is! Along with the S90 and XC90 SUV, the Volvo V90 2017 is based on a new, revolutionary platform. The three of them are based on a Scaleable Production Architecture platform, which also implies their engines and various elements will be shared across the board. Of course, their designs will not be identical to each other, but the good news is that their luxurious vibe will be a signature for the all three models, and not just the V90.
New Volvo V90 2017 Release Date
The launch date is in 2017.
2017 Volvo V90 Price
The base V90 should go for roughly $50,000.
On the outside, the V90 looks quite similar to the S90, mostly because they share the same platform, especially up to the B-pillars, while the XC90 should take over from there and all the way up to the exhaust pipe. The Volvo V90 2017 looks a lot more energetic and classy compared to previous installments in the series, although this should not be much of a surprise, considering it has just returned from a 19-year long hiatus.
Volvo V90 2017 Interior
On the inside, the impact of the S90 is also noticeable, but this is a good thing, as the interior is a lot classier than you might expect out of an average wagon. In any case, the dashboard is virtually identical, down to the A/C vents as well as the touchscreen that covers both infotainment and navigation needs. With a high-quality upholstery and wood inserts, it is no wonder Volvo has high hopes for this model. As far as indoor space goes, there is plenty of it, at least for passengers. Although, the trunk might be a different story. Due to exterior design changes, the trunk space is considerably smaller than it used to be.
The engine options for the Volvo V90 2017 are still a mystery, although considering how much it has in common with the S90 and by extension the XC90, it is not too much of a stretch to assume their engines will be that much different. In fact, they are probably going to be identical in most respects – if Volvo couldn’t be bothered to make separate interior and exterior design features, why would they bother making separate engines? That means we are looking at a couple of gasoline and diesel engines as well as a hybrid. In other words, the line starts with the turbocharged T5, capable of producing 254 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque; then it moves on to the T6 with 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. As far as diesel units go, there are the D4 with 190 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and the D5 with 225 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there is the T8 hybrid with a combination of a twin gasoline and an electric motor with 80 hp of its own.
