The current Liva has been released back in 2010 and since then, it quickly became one of the better selling cars in its class, both in India and Brazil. However, its design is getting dated and its platform is not the best out there so in order to change that and offer a better overall car, a new one is going to be released with the Toyota Liva Diesel 2017 which will be, just like before, based on the new generation of the Etios. This means that the two are likely going to be based on a new platform which will allow them to build a lighter and more comfortable car than before.
Toyota Liva Diesel 2017 Release Date and Price
The release date will most likely happen in 2017 at the Delhi Motor Expo where the two cars are going to be showcased for the first time and shortly after that, both of them should be available for sale. The price of the Liva will be slightly lower than that of its sibling, the Etios, starting at roughly $9,000 and going up from there. The diesel version of the car will start at roughly $12,000 but on top of the slightly better engine, the car will also come with more standard features.
Toyota Liva Design
In terms of design, many people thought that the new Liva was going to be similar to the ongoing model but the latest rumors suggest that the car will get an all-new design, more similar to that of its US or European siblings. The front end will receive Toyota‘s new corporate grille, its headlights will be slimmer while the car will get a more athletic look in general. A rear spoiler will be standard on the diesel as well as a pair of side skirts, a more aggressive front bumper, aluminum 15 inch wheels and even Xenon headlamps, for the first time on this model.
2017 Toyota Liva Interior
Inside the cabin, the Toyota Liva Diesel 2017 should carry over the same interior that will also be found on the upcoming Etios, so it will get a cleaner-looking dashboard, better seats as well as more standard features such as four airbags, parking sensors, and even a trip computer.
Toyota Liva Diesel 2017 Specs
Engine wise, the car is expected to get an evolution of the same 1.4 liters turbocharged diesel that is also found on the current model. This time around, though, it should make around 75 horsepower and little over 180 N*m of torque, enough to make the car feel fast and dependable. This engine will the be mated only to a 5-speed manual which will drive the front wheels. The fuel consumption should be right around 4 liters/100km on average which would make it one of the most efficient cars in its class.
