Nissan X Trail 2017 Price

The Xtrail was originally a go-anywhere crossover built on a very capable platform. Fast-forwarding a few years we now have which is pretty much a sedan on stilts. The latest iteration of the car, the Nissan X trail 2017, has just been released without too many upgrades. This is rather interesting because the car was expected to get the same exterior upgrades found on the US Rogue. This was updated quite a bit over the older model and Nissan said that the Xtrail was going to follow. However, this is not really the case. The 2017 X trail is pretty much identical to the one from last year with the only real upgrade being under the hood. The interior has been left mostly unchanged which is also disappointing but more on that a bit later.

The crossover shares its platform with the much smaller Qashqai. However, it is longer and it gets a longer wheelbase. Because of that, it is also heavier and more comfortable. Despite being conceived primarily as a five-seats car, the Xtrail can happily accommodate up to seven people in relative comfort. The only drawback when all seven seats are up is that the trunk space becomes smaller than that available in a hatchback. Leaving that aside, the Xtrail is a rather good choice for a family because it offers everything you would ever need and a few extras. The car can currently be had for around €25,000 for a base model. The top end Tekna version will set you back an eye-watering €40,000 which is already in a completely different class. Despite being quite expensive on the high end, the Nissan X trail 2017 still remains one of the better cars in its class.

Nissan X trail Design

We said that the car is mostly identical to the 2016 model which is a bit disappointing. We expect Nissan to bring all the great changes found on the US model in Europe as well but this is not the case. The car gets the same front end as before which sports a massive amount of chrome. The rear end is mostly the same as well but the tail lights have been updated on certain models. The interior has not changed a bit so it is as functional as it ever was. There are still some rather cheap materials inside, especially noticeable on the higher end models. Despite that, the car features a great driving posture and the comfort offered to its passengers is usually above what the competition has to offer. The seven-seat model is great but the rearmost seats are a bit too small for two full grown adults.

2017 Nissan Xtrail Specs

The Nissan X trail 2017 still gets the same engines as before with an added bonus. In Europe, the car gets the same 1.6-liter turbocharged diesel as its base engine. This will provide 130 horsepower and plenty of torque for most people. A 6-speed manual is available as standard and there is also a CVT as an option. Some markets will also get a choice of a 2 liter or a larger 2.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engines. These offer more power than the diesel but they are a lot less efficient. The new addition to the range is a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 diesel. This engine has been previously used on other Renault and Nissan applications and it has proven its reliability. It can provide an impressive 175 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Just like the 1.6-liter unit, it can be had with either a manual or a CVT. Unfortunately though, while it offers more power and torque, it is not as refined as the smaller engine. This means that the 1.6 might still be the better choice for some.
