Since it was launched in 2013 the CTS received a couple of updates. The most recent were done a few months ago and it includes improved engines and a more up to date look. However, the interior of the car has been left untouched and while the powertrains have been updated, the engines are roughly the same as before. Rumors suggest that the upcoming Cadillac CTS 2017 is going to be the car’s mid-life update. This time around this will not only include slight changes. Instead, it will come with quite a few upgrades, inside and out, all meant to make the CTS great once again.
Cadillac CTS 2017 Price
This mid-life update won’t change much about its chassis. The car will still use the same rear-wheel drive Alpha platform as before. Its running gear will be the one that will suffer most changes. The current model is great in terms of driving characteristics. However, when compared to a Mercedes E-Class or even an Audi A6, the car feels too unrefined. The ride quality is harsh, the suspension is quite hard and the engines seem unrefined. Cadillac is looking to improve on all of these aspects quite soon. We do hope that despite its upgrades, the price will be kept at around $47,000 for a base model. If Cadillac will decide to increase the price then they might get in trouble as both Mercedes and Audi offer cheaper similar models.
Cadillac CTS 2017 Interior
One of the largest drawbacks of the ongoing CTS is the interior. The materials are fine and the driving position is great. However, the design is plain old and it makes the car too similar to a Chevy Malibu. The upcoming Cadillac CTS 2017 is expected to change all that. This time around the car should receive an entirely new cabin. The dashboard, steering wheel, seats and even materials are all going to be new. We do expect something a bit more similar to the CT6 but Cadillac might surprise us with something new. The materials will now comprise of aluminum, real leather, wood, softer plastics as well as glass. This time around the car should feature an infotainment system with a glass screen.
Considering that its design has been updated quite recently, the upcoming CTS should remain similar to the ongoing model. The vertical fog lights found on the current model as well as the angular front end are both going to be carried over. At the back, we might see the introduction of a small diffuser even on the base model. Besides that, with the exception of its rims and likely colors, things should be pretty similar to the current version.
2017 Cadillac CTS Specs
Same thing should happen with the engines that will power the Cadillac CTS 2017. This will feature three different powertrains, all meant for different people. The base model will carry on with its 2-liter turbo four. This will offer 272 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and it will be the most efficient of the lot. A 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 with 335 horsepower and 285l lb-ft of torque is going to be available as an option. Both of these will be available with the rear or all-wheel drive. The V-Sport model is expected to continue with its 3.6 liters twin-turbocharged V6.
With 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, this would be among the most powerful in its class. For those wanting a bit of insanity, the CTS will also be available with the 6.2 liters supercharged V8. This time around it might make more, though. Rumors suggest for an output closer to 650 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque which would easily make it the fastest four-door sedan in the World.
