Jaguar has been growing as a company for the last few years but in order to become a true competitor for BMW, Mercedes and Audi they had to do something more. The answer for most of their problems is the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, the first crossover built by the English car company. The F-Pace is expected to double their sales and to allow Jaguar to build the most impressive car in the future. Considering they never built a crossover you would expect them to go to Range Rover and use an already developed chassis but luckily Jaguar went on the harder and more rewarding route of building their own crossover.
In order to do so, they stretched the platform of the XE sedan and added a four-wheel drive to it. On top of that, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace comes with an all new suspension system, bigger brakes than the sedan as well as a much higher ground clearance. All of these are meant to improve the ride quality and to allow it to drive over most types of terrains.
2017 Jaguar F-Pace Release Date and Price
While it has already been released, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will not go on sale until the start of 2017. The US model will start at $43,500 for the F-Pace, around $57,000 for the S model and $41,000 for the diesel which will come in the second part of the year.
The design of the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is very well balanced, especially since this is their first crossover. The front end is similar to that of the XE having the usual Jaguar grille, wide and slim Xenon or LED headlights as well as a rather impressive front bumper. On the sides, it features small fender vents with the Jaguar logo on them as well as 18 or 19-inch rims. The back offers a nice level of aggressiveness with dual exhausts on both models, a subtle diffuser and LED tail lights.
2017 Jaguar F-Pace Interior
The interior, on the other hand, is very similar to the XE sedan which is not a bad thing at all. The base model is fairly equipped with most features you would expect from such a car. However, the top end model manages to impress with its dual 12 inch LCD screens, a customizable one for the instrument cluster and another one that acts as the control center of the car. The leather is one of the better out there in terms of quality and despite featuring only five seats, there is enough room both in the front and at the back for the tallest people out there.
2017 Jaguar F-Pace Specs
Under the hood of the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, there are two possible engines for starters while Europe gets three. The base US version of the car will get the 3 liters supercharged V6 offering 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque while for an extra $13,500 Jaguar will bump that to 380 horsepower. The massive difference in price is there because the S model adds a more refined interior, a sportier suspension system, larger brakes as well as a complete exterior body kit. Both of them will hit over 140 MPH and both of them will get to 60 MPH in less than 5.5 seconds mostly thanks to a standard all-wheel-drive system and an 8 speed automatic.
A 2-liter diesel offering 180 horsepower and over 310 lb-ft of torque are also going to be available which is expected to get well over 30 MPG on average! Europe, on the other hand, will get an extra 2 liter inline 4 turbocharged petrol engine which is expected to be offered either with a 6-speed manual or with an 8 speed automatic and in two power figures. The base model will get 200 horsepower while the higher end version will bump that to around 270 horsepower.
