2016 Nissan Frontier Diesel Release Date

Thanks to the people at Nissan we got plenty of pictures and information about the new Frontier. The 2016 Nissan Frontier is coming with huge modifications that will increase its overall performance. Since June, we have been getting information about this model, and we have more or less clear picture of the Nissan Frontier 2016. The most important modification is a new platform. Nissan decided to abandon the old platform after ten years, and it will use the D23 series Navara chassis. If you are a Nissan fan, then you already know the most important characteristics of this platform.

The most important difference between these two platforms is the fuel efficiency. The D23 series is much more efficient than the previous one. Apart from the platform, there are going to be several more visible modifications, both design and under the hood. There is a new selection of engines which are slightly stronger than some engines used in previous models. You get the good old Frontier, just slightly improved. Naturally, it has some flaws, and we will also present some of them in the following few paragraphs.

Let’s first start with the engine. According to the latest news, there will be at least three different engines. The standard unit is the 2.3l inline-4 diesel unit which has already been used in some models manufactured by European carmakers. The mileage is quite good since it can reach 30 mpg. On the other hand, it can deliver 150 HP and 250 pound-feet of torque, which some of you will find insufficient.

The second option is the 2.8l Cummins Diesel. The fuel consumption of this engine is similar to the EcoRam, but EcoRam is more expensive. It comes with an output of 200 HP and 360 pound-feet of torque. Recently, Nissan has announced one more unit, but it wasn’t precise which unit is going to be. In our assumption, there are two potential candidates, the 2.0l inline-4 with a turbocharger (which has already been used in several previous models) and the 2.5l supercharged engine. The second one is more powerful and can deliver approximately 250 HP. Perhaps Nissan hasn’t decided about the third unit yet, but these two are the best candidates. Or maybe there are going to surprise us…

Exterior Design

2016 Nissan Frontier Diesel

Nissan carefully planned the design of the 2016 Nissan Frontier. Headlights are going to use LED technology, and they are coming with the slightly modified shape. Also, the bonnet will have stronger curves than before and even the bumpers are going to have a new look. Changing bumpers and bonnets is always a great way to refresh the car. The taillights will probably keep the same shape, but there is a rumor they will be larger than before. There are even some speculations about the wheels but it is not clear yet what is going to be changed.

2016 Nissan Frontier Interior

Unfortunately, there are no many available details about the interior of the 2016 Nissan Frontier. We can just assume seats are going to be covered with either cloth or leather. It is most likely that some other material won’t be used. There are even some rumors that cabin is going to be less spacious, but don’t take this to the bank. This is just a rumor we heard through the grapevine.

2016 Nissan Frontier Release Date and Price

The good news is we don’t need to wait long to see the 2016 Nissan Frontier on the streets. According to the latest information, it should be released in the second quarter of 2016. Certainly, the biggest advantage of this pickup truck is the price. New Nissan Frontier is going to cost around $18,500, way less than some other similar trucks manufactured by European and American automakers.
